>Christ Has Ascended!

>Christ has ascended!

From Earth to Heaven!

That’s the traditional Orthodox greeting and response shared at the Feast of the Ascension each year, and for the days between Ascension and Pentecost. Yesterday was the Feast, (we had Liturgy at St. John here in Memphis on Wednesday night, the evening before the feast) but I was too busy to do a blog post, so if you haven’t been reading my blog for very long and you’d like to, take a look back at my post about Ascension from 2009:

“Ascending and Commencing.”

And here’s a different explanation of the meaning of the icon of the feast, from St. Siloun Church on Mount Athos. (Icon shown is from their site.)

I’m off to Little Rock today, and can’t wait to finally meet Jane Friedman in person. Jane will be speaking at the Arkansas Writers Conference.

Watch for my guest post at Jane’s Writer’s Digest blog, “There Are No Rules,” on Monday.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
