Today my article, “Icons Will Save the World” is appearing on the website of First Things: A Journal of Religion, Culture and Public Life. To read the article, click on the link here and then click on the brown square on the left side of the page that says “Read Our Daily Article.”
I have a listing at http://www.iconofile.com/ for my studio, Mandorla Icon Studio. On the Iconofile website, click on “Resource Guide” and then “Icons-Instruction” and also “Icons-Hand-Painted.” Iconofile lists a number of iconographers, workshops, etc. And they sell good pigments and other supplies. I’ve been to one of the workshops they sponsor and learned much from the instructors and from George O’Hanlon, Iconofle’s founder.
The icon at right is similar to the one that is described in the article at First Things… in the scene where the woman is sitting in the nave looking at the icon of Christ on the cross.
A few more icons that I have painted are included in this post, which will be short on words so that you’ll have time to read the article at First Things.
Leave me a comment here (by clicking on comments at the end of this post and then signing in and leaving your comment) … or email me at [email protected].
My next icon workshop will be at St. John Orthodox Church in Memphis March 27-30. It’s currently full (10 students) but if you’d like to be on a waiting list, drop me an email and let me know.
These students just finished an icon of the Mother of God.
Thanks for reading!
