Saint Mary of Egypt’s Feast Day!

And my Name Day!

“Marriage icon” of Saints Basil the Great and Mary of Egypt

Today is the Feast Day of my patron saint, Mary of Egypt. Over the years I’ve done a few blog posts about her, especially back in 2015. Rather than writing something new today, I’m going to share links to a couple of those posts. This icon is one I did for my husband on one of our wedding anniversaries, showing his patron saint, Basil the Great, along with mine.

“Not a Moral Project” (January 30, 2015)

Within that post is a link to Fr Stephen Freeman’s article: “St. Mary of Egypt and Moral Progress” (January 11, 2015)

National Poetry Month

Today is also the first day of National Poetry Month, so finally I will share a post that contains a poem I wrote back in 1997:

“Holy Mother Mary, Pray to God for Us” (March 27, 2015)

Blessed Name Day to all who share Mary of Egypt with me as a patron, and to all who love her and honor her.

  1. Happy Saint Mary of Egypt’s Day, Susan! My husband’s saint is St. Basil, too, and mine are Saint Catherine and Saint Brigid of Ireland. May Mary pray for us all!
